Today I learned...
...that when some screeching harpy on the phone asks "Could YOU feed yourself and a child on £5 a week?", answering "Well, yes" does not go down well.

Srsly?
Post shopping list, please. Poor America's currently in the middle of inflation on food prices so is getting crazy here.
I couldn't feed them WELL, but keep the diet simple and it's more or less do-able. Porridge, pasta, rice, cheap staples like that. The first week'd probably go over-budget, but buy in bulk and it'll average out under the limit, I'd wager.
I'm sure Asda would love that.
"Thats £6.47 please"
"I've only got a fiver, but have been assured that it would be better to buy in bulk and it will even out after that. So I can drop in the extra £1.47 next week doll?"
My Morrisons shop came to £90 for me and Paul yesterday. We didn't even buy that much, just bread for sandwiches, cold meat, cheese, yoghurts, Household staples. £22 of it was dog food though. Food prices are going mental just now.
My food bill when I was a poor gadge student was £7 a week. I lived on toast, black coffee, campbells soup and fruit.
Your "kids" would end up with scurvy Semp. And rickets.
I'll send social services this post if I ever get someone pregnant. They'll be round there with a coathanger before you could blink, I wouldn't even have to work at it...
